Thumbs Down

To the people who bring dogs to car shows. It’s hot and they are walking on asphalt and panting. Not all dogs get along. We’ve seen them damage cars. They can’t judge cars. Please keep them home.

Thumbs Down

To the grocery stores that only have one checkout open, while two or three employees are standing around doing nothing and watching the customers going to get a discount for doing your work, while you are getting paid to do nothing!

Thumbs Up

To the gentleman in the dark grey truck and red shirt who stopped his truck in traffic to help a blind woman who became disoriented in the middle of the road in Quakertown on September 15. You helped her safely to the curb. Your kindness and chivalry was observed and noted by all who witnessed. There are good people in the world. You are one of them.

Thumbs Up

Thank you to the person who found my purse at Walmart. Everything of importance was in it – keys, phone & heart medicine. I panicked. I especially want to thank the employees for being so kind and concerned. Nothing was taken. “A Grateful Customer”

Thumbs Up

To the man I cut off by the Aldi’s in Quakertown on Wednesday evening for apologizing. Despite checking three times before pulling out I failed to see you and I am very sorry for creating a dangerous situation. I guessed from your extreme reaction that you must have been having a very bad day. I hope that things are better now.

Thumbs Down

To the people who advertise a yard/garage/moving sale by posting signs on other people’s property then fail to take them down, leaving the litter to someone else to clean up.

Thumbs Down

To the person who almost cut me off from the highway onto State Road, Telford, then tailgated me.

Thumbs Up

To the person who posted the Thumbs Down about a hoarder. Hoarding is a mental illness. It can happen at any age, but especially prevalent in older adults. It is not a case of them deliberately hoarding things to annoy their neighbors. Local authorities can only act when the dwelling becomes a health hazard. If you live close by and can document anything like vermin entering and exiting the house, that would help the officials. But public shaming is useless.

Thumbs Down

To the lovely young lady named Megan  who not only found our lost dog Toby but also returned him to us safe and sound. You are such a blessing! You definitely got your ticket punched with this kind deed. Somebody upstairs was looking out for our buddy Toby that day.

Thumbs Down

To you incessant honkers who drive me bonkers Whether it’s for the deer from whom you steer clear Or the others who drive badly That you sound the horn madly You break the silence And go on in defiance, Of the reason we live in the country The deer don’t know The horn you blow Is meant to drive them away And the drivers on Mill Road Following the law and the code Are being safe along their way. So if you want to be offensive, Causing motorists to be defensive, And making neighbors hypertensive, Go live in the city Where no one is witty And they all drive stupidly. If not, then while you are here. Don’t drive so dang near! For you have nothing to fear If you adjust the gas And stay off the grass You won’t prove yourself an idiot.

Thumbs Up

A special thanks to my wonderful neighbors who invited me for dinner and also puts my newspapers at my door every day. May God bless them.

Thumbs Up

A special thank you to Richland Township Police Officer Zachary Herb. Very early on a Sunday morning during our daily dog walk at Veteran’s Park we accidentally locked our keys & phone in the car (Senior moment). My 77 year old husband started the 3 mile walk back home to get our back up keys. Along the way he happened upon Officer Herb. The officer offered to take my husband back to the park to try to get into the car to get the keys. He was able to do this and save our day. We were very impressed with this young man’s understanding, kindness & professionalism. We and our dogs thank you so much.

Thumbs Up

Thank you to the generous person who paid for my friend and my breakfasts on September 22 at Kathy’s Restaurant. What a nice surprise!

Thumbs Up

To the person who found my purple cell phone in the Hellertown Giant and turned it in to the courtesy counter. Thank you and God bless.

Thumbs Down

To the drivers who look at their cell phones at red traffic lights and miss when the light turns green. Put your phone away until you are no longer driving. Your attention should be on driving. If you must use your phone, pull off the road.

Thumbs Down

I would like to give a Thumbs Down to the person who gave the Thumbs Down to the person who said hoarding is a mental illness. It doesn’t matter whether or not there are vermin entering or exiting. If there is a medical emergency or a fire, these volunteers are risking their lives to get to victims. Hoarding is probably a safety issue well before it is seen outside. Don’t put other people in danger because of hoarding.  If you do, don’t complain about someone not risking their life to rescue your loved one because there is too much stuff in the way to safely get to the victim.

Thumbs Down

To the crawling, left lane sitting drivers on Route 309.  It is entirely expected to curtail your speed in adverse weather or when traffic is heavy.  However, on an average day, sputtering along at 40MPH in a 55MPH zone in the left lane can cause an accident.  Most of us don’t want to speed or drive like an idiot, passing on the right, but you left lane huggers give us no choice.  If you want to drive slower than the law permits, do it in the right lane.

Thumbs Down

To contractors who were scheduled to come and give me an estimate and never showed or called.

Thumbs Down

To the person who hit me and left the scene on August 31st around 4:45pm on Easton Road in Hellertown. Thanks for not stopping. You knew you hit a person and left me laying on the yellow line of the road like an animal. Hope you sleep well at night.

Thumbs Up

To the two people who called 911 when you saw me laying on Easton Road in Hellertown after being hit by a car. I am forever thankful for everyone who helped in getting me to St. Luke’s Trauma Center. I have a long recovery yet, but I’m here. God bless to all who helped me on Wednesday, August 31st.

Thumbs Down

This is for the person who took out his frustration by damaging my car on Friday, October 14 at a Quakertown store parking lot. That is if they know how to read. My car will be fixed. Just an annoyance. On the other hand, your personality and character probably will never be fixed. You will just remain a sorry excuse for a human being.

Thumbs Up

To the creative poet who so eloquently wrote the best Thumbs Down ever, rhyming line after line about those who find it necessary to beep their horns in the countryside. Congratulations on such a well written poem!

Thumbs DOWN

To drivers who think the rules don’t apply to them. You are the reason there are accidents.  You do not need to drive so aggressively that you swerve in and out of lanes, ride extremely close to another car or exceed the posted speed limits by 20mph or more.  Follow the rules- they are in place to protect all of us. You are not above the law. If you are late, leave earlier. Do not inflict your errors on the rest of us.
